Kushaq Style 1.0L MT Gets A New NSR Variant

Skoda Kushaq Style 1.0L Manual Gets New NSR Variant | V3Cars

Skoda have introduced yet another variant in the Kushaq lineup to deal with the current shortage of semiconductor chips. Known as the Kushaq Style NSR, the new variant sits below the top-spec Style variant in the Kushaq lineup and misses out on some goodies. The new variant is only available with the 1.0L turbo-petrol manual powertrain.

The NSR in the name stands for Non Sunroof. Hence, the most obvious change is the lack of a sunroof in the new variant. Other than that, the Style NSR variant also misses out on rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming IRVM. It also gets a smaller, 15-inch spare wheel instead of the 16-inch available in the top-spec Style variant. However, the new variant does get a sunglass holder, which is missing in the top variant due to the addition of a sunroof.

For all the missing features, Skoda have priced the new variant at Rs. 20,000 less than the Style variant. The new variant cost Rs. 15.09 lakh while the top-spec Style variant cost Rs. 15.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant does not have a good value-for-money quotient, as Rs. 20,000 is easily justifiable for the added features in the Style variant. But, due to less electronics, and hence, less use of semiconductor chips, Skoda are likely to deliver the new Style NSR variant sooner than the top-spec Style variant.

As stated earlier, the new variant is only available with the 1.0L turbo-petrol manual powertrain. So, if you want the ease of an automatic transmission or the more powerful, 1.5L turbo-petrol engine, you cannot opt for the new variant. Here are the powertrain specifications of the Kushaq:

In addition to the new variant introduction, Skoda have rejigged the feature list of the Kushaq. The Kushaq now gets a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) as standard. The top-spec Style variant also gets a new roof lining and a full-colour TFT instrument cluster, which was earlier exclusive to the Monte Carlo variant. We recently saw this feature added to the Volkswagen Taigun and expect it to make its way to the Skoda Slavia as well.

Earlier this year, Skoda introduced a few stripped-down variants of the Kushaq. We saw the Kushaq Active Peace and Ambition Classic variants that lacked some features but cost less. Skoda said that buyers of these Kushaq variants can retrofit the missing equipment at a later date from the dealership.

Skoda are also likely to replace  the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a smaller, 8.0-inch unit seen in the international models, as they have done with the Slavia. With these feature changes, the prices of the Kushaq remain unchanged. The Skoda Kushaq is currently priced from Rs. 11.20 lakh to Rs. 18.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
