Renault Kiger Launch Confirmed For 15 February | V3Cars
Renault is all set to launch its sub-4m SUV, the Kiger, on 15 February 2021. Unveiled in January 2021, the Kiger SUV looks similar to the Kiger concept. Like the concept, it carries forward Renault’s family grille flanked by top-mounted LED DRLs. It also gets triple projector LED headlamps that are housed in the bumper.
The side profile looks muscular with flared wheel arches and short overhangs. The Kiger has a ground clearance of 205mm and rides on 195/65 R16 tyres. At the back, it gets C-shaped tail lamps and a huge rear bumper with a faux skid plate.
The Kiger is based on the CMFA+ platform. It is the same platform that underpins the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Triber. The Kiger SUV not only shares its underpinnings with the two cars but borrows the engines as well. It gets a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 72PS and 96Nm and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 100PS and 160Nm. Like the Magnite, the Kiger also gets a 5-speed MT as standard with both the engines along with an option of CVT with the turbocharged engine. Unlike the Magnite, the Kiger also gets an option of 5-speed AMT with the less-powerful naturally aspirated engine and multiple driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.
The feature list on the Kiger is also quite similar to the Magnite. It gets auto AC with rear AC vents, wireless mobile charging, digital instrument cluster, cruise control and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features on offer include ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill launch assist, traction control and electronic stability program. While the Kiger gets four airbags against Magnite’s two airbags, it misses out on a 360-degree camera which the Magnite gets.
Prices of the Renault Kiger are expected to range from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh. It will take on likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300.
