Renault’s Upcoming “Bigger” Car/s May Not Be India-First | V3Cars
Renault India plan to expand their portfolio in the near future and it is official that the carmaker is investing in 2 new SUVs and an electric car. While Renault haven’t revealed which new cars are headed to India, it's an educated guess that one of these would be the new-gen Duster while the other could be based on the same platform. Renault has had the Arkana – an SUV coupe based on the Duster – in its global lineup since 2019. Hence, the carmaker might just update it along with the Duster, which is set to get a completely new generation. Meanwhile, the new Duster was spotted outside India a few times.
The Duster and Arkana are both available overseas, and these are “bigger” than Renault’s current crop of models sold in India, namely the Kwid, Triber and Kiger. The Kwid is Renault’s entry-level car in the Indian market, and both the Triber and Kiger belong to the B-segment. The Duster and Arkana are both C-segment cars that would rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Citroen C3 Aircross.

In a recent interaction with V3Cars, Renault India’s VP, Sales & Marketing, Sudhir Malhotra, also confirmed that the upcoming Renault cars may not necessarily be India-first models like some of its previous nameplates. While Sudhir denied to comment much on future products, he hinted that the new cars should cost above the Rs. 10 lakh price mark, which is a given since both these cars belong to the C-segment.
Meanwhile, Renault have launched a new initiative called the Renault Experience Days under which the carmaker plans to put mobile dealerships coupled with quick service at 625 locations across 26 states. These locations are strategically selected in areas where the carmaker is currently not present. Read more about Renault Experience Days here.
