Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun To Be Unveiled On March 31 | V3Cars
Volkswagen showcased the Taigun concept ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo in February 2020. Now, a year later, Volkswagen has confirmed it will unveil the production-spec Taigun on 31 March 2021, just two weeks after Skoda unveiled its Taigun-rival, the Kushaq, on 18 March 2021.
In terms of design, the production-spec SUV is likely to look largely similar to the Taigun concept. Upfront, it features the signature Volkswagen family look with a horizontally slatted chrome front grille flanked by dual-barrel LED headlamps. The front bumper looks busy with a thick chrome element running across the width surrounding the fog lamps.
Coming to the side, the silhouette looks boxy with a sharp character line running across its length. At the rear, the Taigun reminds us of the Sonet as it gets LED tail lamps that are connected by a trim element.
Based on the same MQB A0 IN platform as the Kushaq, the Taigun should have similar dimensions and wheelbase as the Skoda SUV. For reference, the Kushaq is 4225mm long, 1760mm wide and 1612mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2651mm and a ground clearance of 188mm. The Kushaq is offered with 16-and 17-inch wheels depending on the variant and the Taigun is expected to get a similar setup as well.
On the inside, the Taigun is expected to look similar to the bigger T-ROC SUV. That said, on the features front, the Taigun is likely to be similar to the Kushaq SUV. It gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, auto AC, electric sunroof, 6 airbags, electronic stability control and hill launch assist. The Taigun might get some additional features in the form of a digital instrument cluster and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
The Taigun will not only share its platform and features with the Kushaq, it will borrow its engines as well. Like the Kushaq, the Taigun will be offered with two petrol engines: 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol. Here are the details.
