October 2022 Cars Sales Analysis - SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this October 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all SUVs in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

SUV Segment October 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

Tata was the top-selling brand for SUV body-style cars in October 2021, with 23,381 units sold from the carmaker. Mahindra was the second biggest SUV seller with 20,021 units sold in the same month.
However, a year later, Mahindra emerged as the biggest SUV maker with 32,013 units sold in October 2022, as compared to 20,021 units in October of 2021. Comparing it to the growth of previous topper Tata, which saw a growth of 5,881 units or 25.15%, Mahindra saw a growth of 11,992 units or 60%.
Among the SUVs, the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Creta were the top 2 performers in October. They were followed by the Tata Punch and Maruti Brezza in terms of volume.
3 SUVs made it into the 5-figure club in October - Nexon, Creta and Punch.
In terms of YoY change, the Scorpio sisters posted a 125%+ improvement and was the clear top gainer amongst the high volume cars of the SUV body-style.
Hyundai Alcazar reported a growth of around 104.53% and was the second best gainer.
Most mass-market cars performed well and saw a YoY growth in sales except Kia Seltos and Hyundai Venue, which saw a decline of 6.78% and 9.18% in October 2022 YoY comparison analysis, respectively.
Among the notable top losers were the Jeep Compass with a 45% decline, MG Hector twins with 34% fall, Skoda Kushaq and MG Gloster with a decline around 30%.
Maruti S-Cross, Skoda Karoq, Renault Duster and Volkswagen T-Roc were still in production in October 2021 but were discontinued in the subsequent months.

SUV Segment October 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder from Toyota was the top MoM gainer in October 2022 MoM analysis, with an improvement of 191% over its September sales figures
Among the notable top MoM losers were the Brezza, Fortuner, Kushaq and Hector twins, recording an MoM decline of 35.64%, 31% and 23%, respectively
