Nissan Magnite Gets 4 Stars At ASEAN NCAP Crash Test | V3Cars

Nissan launched the Magnite SUV in India on 2 December 2020 and since its launch the sub-4m SUV has been attracting a lot of attention primarily due to its aggressive starting price.

Nissan claims it has received more than 30,000 bookings for the SUV in around 30 days of its launch. The Magnite has now received a 4-star rating at the latest round of crash tests conducted by the ASEAN NCAP.

More details of the test are yet to be revealed. Magnite is currently manufactured only in India, and we hope the car that has been tested meets the quality of cars that are produced for the Indian car market. Since Global NCAP and ASEAN NCAP have a different rating system, Magnite’s 4-star ASEAN NCAP may not be equivalent to a 4-star rating of Global NCAP.

We expect ASEAN NCAP to have tested a lower-spec Magnite, which gets features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard. In higher variants, the Magnite gets additional safety features like traction control, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, the Magnite is offered with two engine options in India. A 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 72PS and 96Nm mated to a 5-speed MT and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 100PS and 160Nm mated to either a 5-speed MT or a CVT.

Prices of the Magnite range from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It rivals the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport in India.
