Next-Gen Kia Carnival India Launch In 2022 | V3Cars
While Kia launched the third-gen Carnival in India in February 2020, the carmaker debuted the fourth-gen model globally in July 2020. Now, it seems like Kia is planning to launch the fourth-gen Carnival in India as well. Talking at a recent media roundtable, Kia India Executive Director and Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer, Tae-Jin Park, reportedly said, “We are seriously considering what is the right time to bring the new-generation Carnival to the Indian market.”
Based on a new platform, the new Carnival is bigger than the current model in every dimension. It is 40mm longer, 10mm wider and 20mm taller. It also has a 30mm longer wheelbase.

In terms of design, the new Carnival looks a lot sharper and aggressive than the outgoing model. Upfront, it features a more upright profile with slim headlamps flanking the chrome studded tiger-nose grille. The front bumper is also redesigned with a large central air dam and a thick chrome element running across the width with L-shaped fog lamp housing at both ends.
The side profile looks clean with a sharp character line running across the length and a redesigned C-pillar. While the current model gets stepped window-line post the C-pillar, the new-gen model gets a stepped roofline. Coming to the back, the new Carnival features connected tail lamps and a huge bumper housing the faux skid plate, rear reflectors and reversing light.
Like the exterior, the new Carnival also gets an all-new cabin that looks more premium and upmarket. The centre of attraction should be those connected AC vents with knurled metal finish. It also gets a freestanding touchscreen infotainment which is housed in the same housing as the digital instrument cluster. The new Carnival also gets a new steering wheel and a redesigned central instrument console. Globally, Kia offers the new Carnival in 7-,8- and 9-seater configurations like the current-gen model offered in India.
Under the hood, the new Carnival will get the same 2.2-litre diesel engine offered on the current model. It makes 200PS and 440Nm mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Globally, the Carnival is also offered with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine (294PS/355Nm) but it is not expected to make way to the India-spec model.
Kia is expected to launch the fourth-gen Carnival in India in 2022. It is expected to be priced at a premium over the current model which retails from Rs 24.95 lakh to Rs 33.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to rival the top-spec variant of the Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs and serve as a more affordable alternative to premium MPVs like the Mercedes Benz V-Class and the Toyota Vellfire.
