Honda Cars India recently revealed the first teaser image of their upcoming SUV. Our sources tell us that the platform of the upcoming SUV will also underpin future Honda models in India.
Honda SUV Platform To Underpin Future Models
While the details of these models are scarce, we expect the next-gen Amaze sedan and a C-segment SUV to share their platforms with the upcoming B2-segment Honda SUV. The upcoming SUV from Honda is likely to measure under 4 metres and go up against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. The platform of the upcoming SUV is likely to be a reworked version of the 2nd-gen Amaze sedan’s platform.

3rd-Gen Honda Amaze Could Launch Next Year
Honda introduced the Amaze in India back in 2013 and later brought the 2nd-gen Amaze in 2018. Following a regular product lifecycle, Honda are likely to bring the 3rd-gen Amaze in early 2024. It is likely to share its platform with the upcoming Honda SUV and sit under 4 metres in length. The new Amaze could take design inspiration from bigger global sedans from Honda’s stable, such as the Civic and Accord.
The new Amaze is also likely to offer a completely redesigned interior with new features like a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system and more. In terms of powertrain, the 3rd-gen Amaze is likely to continue with a 1.2L normal petrol engine. In its current state, this engine produces 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800rpm. Meanwhile, Honda have discontinued the 1.5L diesel engine from their India lineup and it’s unlikely to make a comeback.

Honda Cars India will reveal the production-spec SUV in mid-2023. While Honda are yet to reveal the segment of this upcoming model, we expect this SUV to fall in the B2-segment SUV space. Apart from that, Honda are also likely to bring a C-segment SUV, which will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. Furthermore, the carmaker is also likely to soon introduce a City sedan facelift with BS6 phase 2 complaint engine options.
