MG Astor Production Ramped Up To Meet Delivery Target

MG Astor Production Ramped Up To Meet Delivery Target | V3Cars

MG launched the Astor in October last year and promised to deliver the first 5,000 units by the end of 2021. However, MG was unable to meet this promise due to a global shortage of semiconductors and supply chain issues due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The carmaker has now apologised to customers who are still awaiting delivery of their SUVs. MG have also announced that they have now ramped up production of the Astor to meet the increasing demand.

Meanwhile, MG hiked prices of the Astor in January this year. However, it promised customers who ordered the first batch of Astor protection from any increase in price. The carmaker has honoured this promise by selling the first 5,000 units of the Astor at launch price. Some of these 5,000 customers are still awaiting delivery of the SUV. MG will give priority to the first batch of customers for deliveries. You can track the status of your vehicle and get a tentative delivery schedule via the MY MG App or by visiting an MG dealer.

MG stated that as most of the buyers have received their cars, they will now give priority to other waiting customers. Buyers who booked the Astor after the first 5,000 units will have to pay the revised prices. If you plan to book an Astor now, you will have to pay the increased prices. The price hike varies between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 35,000 depending on the variant. Here is a quick comparison of prices before and after the hike:

MG launched the Astor last year. It packs many features like a panoramic sunroof, AI Assistant, ADAS Level-2, connected car technology, Bluetooth key, full-colour LCD instrument cluster etc. Some of these are segment-first features. This gives the Astor an advantage over its rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, and Maruti S-Cross.

The Astor is available with two petrol engines. The 1.5L normal petrol engine comes with the option of a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. It produces 110PS of power and 144Nm of torque. The other engine is a 1.3L turbocharged petrol unit. It comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This engine produces 140PS of power and 220Nm of torque. There is no diesel engine on offer. However, there is an electric version of the Astor on sale in the form of the ZS EV. It will soon receive a facelift, which will closely resemble the Astor.
