Maruti Suzuki To Export eVX Electric SUV From India

Made-In-India Maruti Suzuki eVX To Be Exported Across The World | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki unveiled the eVX electric SUV as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. Fast forward 10 months, parent company Suzuki unveiled the evolved version of the concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and also previewed its interior. The first test mule of the upcoming eVX was spotted testing on Indian roads recently and now, rumours suggest that the carmaker plans to export the eVX C-segment SUV to various global markets from India. If the rumours are to be believed, it could make the eVX a lot more affordable than initially anticipated thanks to economies of scale.

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric offering for the Indian market is being developed in collaboration with Toyota. Hence, we could expect Toyota to launch its version of the C-segment eSUV in 2025 as well. The eVX will be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and if the rumours are to be believed, it could be exported across the world too. We expect the production-spec Maruti Suzuki eVX to measure around 4300mm in length, 1800 in width and 1600mm in height. It could sport a wheelbase of 2700mm. These figures would put the Maruti Suzuki eVX in the C-SUV segment, which is home to the Hyundai Creta/Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara/Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and the Volkswagen Taigun/Skoda Kushaq. Based on details revealed at the Auto Expo 2023 and spy shots from recent weeks, we can confirm that the production-spec eVX will share a similar footprint as the Grand Vitara SUV.

At the Auto Expo, Maruti stated that the eVX could sport a 60kWh battery, which could give the eSUV a claimed range in excess of 520km. In comparison, the recently launched Nexon EV B2-segment SUV sports a 40.5kWh battery and a claimed range of 465km per charge. At the other end of the spectrum, the MG ZX C1-segment eSUV offers a 50.3kWh battery and a claimed range of 461km, while the BYD Atto 3 C2-segment eSUV a 60.5kWh battery and a claimed range of 521km. Considering the Nexon EV, MG ZS EV and Atto 3 cost Rs. 18.20 lakh, Rs. 22.88 lakh and Rs. 34.0 lakh, respectively, we could expect the Maruti Suzuki eVX to cost between Rs. 20.0 lakh and Rs. 25.0 lakh.

As far as features are concerned, we expect the production-spec version to offer significantly more features than the now-ageing MG ZS EV. Maruti Suzuki could offer the upcoming eVX with a tall dashboard with a free-floating touchscreen infotainment system flanked by vertical AC vents, a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, touch-based HVAC controls, ambient lighting, 360-degree parking cameras, a 2-spoke steering wheel, and electrically adjustable seats. Expect it to offer Level 2 ADAS features as well.
