Maruti Nexa Fronx - Only Car Under 10 Lakh W/ This Safety Feature

Maruti Suzuki Fronx - Only Car Under Rs. 10.0 Lakh With Rear Centre Seatbelt | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki revealed the Nexa Fronx at the Auto Expo and opened bookings on January 12, 2023. The same day, we also got to film the interiors and exteriors of the Fronx. We had 2 surprises coming our way that day. First was that it had a 3-point seatbelt for the rear centre passenger. Secondly, it was mentioned as a standard feature available in all variants of the Fronx.

Mahindra XUV300

So far, the Mahindra XUV300 was the only car to offer this feature at an ex-showroom price safely under Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Mahindra surprised us once more when they quietly removed this feature from the XUV300 along with the following:

  • 3-point seatbelt for centre rear seat
  • Knee airbag
  • Rear fog lamps
  • Door warning lights
  • Boot lamp
  • Seatbelt warning for rear seats
  • 17-inch alloys (downsized to 16-inch)
  • Heated outside mirrors

MG Astor

The MG Astor is the other car that comes to mind when talking about 3-point seatbelt for the rear-centre passenger. It went on sale with a starting ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 9.78 lakh and offered a 3-point seatbelt as standard feature. However, its starting price breached the Rs. 10.0 lakh barrier after multiple price revisions in 2022.

Maruti Nexa Fronx Expected Launch Date

Maruti Suzuki revealed the Fronx and opened bookings on January 12, 2023. It should soon start arriving at the dealerships for customer experience but the test drives will probably open only after the media drives are over.

We’re expecting the price announcement from Maruti Suzuki sometime in February and the deliveries could start in March 2023. To learn more about how we arrived at these timelines, you can read our logic behind these estimations at the following link:

It’s not only a pleasant surprise to see this feature in a sub-Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom) car but to see it as a standard feature is all the more satisfying. A popular car for high safety rating is the Tata Nexon, which doesn’t even offer a manual day/night inside mirror in any variant under Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s not an active safety feature but it helps with relaxed driving at night and helps prevent accidents in the first place. It’s a big miss in my opinion, considering that a prismatic mirror only costs Rs. 1,000.
