March 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - D-Segment Cars YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this March 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all D-segment cars in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all D-segment cars for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

D-segment-Cars

D-Segment Cars March 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • SUVs and MPVs continue to rule the D-segment. There are only 3 sedans in the D-segment, and only 1 pick-up
  • The top 10 best-selling D-segment cars are all SUVs or MPVs, with 3 out of the top 5 being SUVs
  • The Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic), Toyota Innova (Crysta + Hycross), Kia Carens, Mahindra XUV700 and Hector/Hector Plus took the top 5 spots
  • The Hector pair pushed the Fortuner from 5th spot to 6th spot in March 2023
  • The clear top gainer in the category were the Hector sisters, with over a 100% growth in the YoY comparison analysis
  • The Hectors were followed by the Scorpios, with a 45% YoY growth
  • Top notable losers in the YoY comparison were the Octavia, with about 52% drop in dispatches over the year, followed by the Kia Carnival with about 49% drop in sales over the past year
  • The Alturas G4 and Skoda Octavia are no longer on sale

D-Segment Cars March 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • In terms of MoM performance, the Scorpio sisters were the best-selling cars in the D-segment and saw a growth of 26.45% in March over February
  • The Toyota Innova (Crysta & Hycross) was the top gainer in terms of MoM sales comparison. with nearly 94% increase in dispatches compared to February
  • Most D-segment cars witnessed a growth in sales in March compared to February
  • All sedans reported healthy growth in the month of March
  • Kia Carnival reported a 67% MoM decline in numbers in March compared to February
