Mahindra XUV300 Spied Testing; Could Be A More Powerful Sportz Variant | V3Cars

A test mule of Mahindra XUV300 was spied testing recently. While the test mule was quite heavily camouflaged, it could be a more powerful turbo-petrol variant of the SUV which debuted at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Mahindra showcased the XUV300 Sportz at the 2020 Auto Expo. It was powered by a more powerful version of the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which powers the standard XUV300. Equipped with direct-injection technology, it makes 130PS of power and 230Nm of peak torque which is 20PS and 30Nm more than the standard 1.2-litre MPFI (Multi-point fuel injection) turbo petrol unit. Mahindra is expected to pair the more powerful 1.2-litre engine with the same 6-speed MT and 6-speed AMT as the standard XUV300 petrol. With the introduction of the new 1.2-litre DI turbo petrol engine, the XUV300 will become the most powerful sub-4m SUV on sale in the country.

The XUV300 Sportz is not expected to feature any major changes on the cosmetic front save for some minor updates in the form of body graphics and blacked-out details. Similarly, on the inside, the cabin layout will also remain unchanged. The XUV300 Sportz showcased at the Auto Expo featured an all-black cabin with red highlights on the steering wheel, central console and AC vents. It also featured red colour stitching around the cabin.

Mahindra is expected to offer the XUV300 Sportz in the top-spec W8(O) variant only. It gets features like dual-zone AC, electric sunroof, auto projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button start, height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, parking camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected car tech.

Safety features on offer include 7 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill launch assist, traction control, tyre direction monitor, rear disc brakes, electronic stability program and front and rear fog lamps. Mahindra might offer some additional features on the XUV300 Sportz in the form of LED headlamps and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Mahindra is expected to launch the XUV300 Sportz in the coming few months. It is expected to attract a premium of upto Rs 50,000 over the standard XUV300 petrol which retails from Rs 7.95 lakh to Rs 11.91 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
