2024 Thar 5 Door To Get Dual Tone Interior

Ahead of its launch in 2024, the Mahindra Thar 5 Door’s dashboard was spied undergoing tests for vibrations. The spy shots show the dashboard with a dual-tone black and brown finish. The top half of the dashboard gets a black finish while the bottom half gets a brown finish. In comparison, the Thar 3 Door features an all-black cabin. Taking the latest spy shots into consideration, we could expect the Thar 5 Door to feature a black finish in the top half of the cabin. So expect the roof liner and the insides of the door pillars to be covered in black fabric and plastic. The lower half, including the seats and door cards, could get a brown theme, which should appeal to family car buyers.

The spy shots also show a larger housing for the touchscreen infotainment system. Earlier this month, we got a glimpse of the upcoming Thar 5 Door’s 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Thar 3 Door, on the other hand, makes do with a 7-inch touchscreen. The new infotainment system is likely to feature Mahindra’s latest user interface seen in SUVs like the Scorpio-N and XUV700. The same touchscreen is expected to find its way into the upcoming XUV300 facelift too.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 Door to retain the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 Door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 Door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to offer the Thar 5 Door diesel with the higher power output while the Thar 5 Door petrol is expected to produce 200PS of power from its 2.0L turbo petrol engine.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Launch Details

A Mahindra spokesperson has confirmed the Thar 5 Door will go on sale in 2024. Hence, it is safe to say that Mahindra could reveal the Thar 5 door in early 2024 and launch it soon after. The new Thar 5 door will not have any direct rivals, save for the Force Gurkha 5 door, which is also slated for a 2024 launch.
