Mahindra Scorpio Unofficial Bookings Open — Launch Expected In The Coming Weeks | V3Cars
Mahindra and Mahindra are gearing up to launch the highly-anticipated, new-gen Scorpio. The body-on-frame 3-row SUV is likely to get launched in June and a few dealerships have already started accepting unofficial bookings. We expect Mahindra to commence official bookings for the 2022 Scorpio in the coming weeks. A couple of leaked pictures revealed the design of the 2022 Scorpio, giving a clearer idea about what to expect from it.
2022 Mahindra Scorpio Exterior Design
The spy shots revealed the butch SUV stance of the 2022 Scorpio. The front profile gets a high-set bonnet and an evolution of the signature Scorpio grille. The new grille gets 6 vertical chrome slats and even though the spied car wears the old Mahindra logo, the production-spec model will be offered with the new Mahindra logo. It is worth noting that the 2022 Scorpio will miss out on hydraulic struts for the bonnet — like the Mahindra XUV700.

From images of the side profile, it’s safe to say that the 2022 Scorpio retains its tall-riding SUV stance with an upright windscreen and A-pillars. We expect higher variants to be offered with dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome door handles, chrome garnish on the doors and factory-fit side steps. Unlike the current-gen Scorpio, the 2022 model gets a strong character line that starts from the headlights and flows to the rear of the SUV.
Speaking of the rear, the 2022 Scorpio gets vertical LED taillights which are somewhat reminiscent of the Christmas tree-like tail lights seen on Volvo’s SUVs. The 2022 Scorpio will continue to offer a side-opening tailgate while the ‘SCORPIO’ lettering across the width of the tailgate is all-new.
2022 Mahindra Scorpio Interior & Features
The latest spy shots of the 2022 Scorpio only reveal the exterior of the new Scorpio. However, based on older spy shots of the Scorpio test mules, we can expect the 2022 Scorpio to offer features like an AdrenoX-based touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Engine Specs
As we stated in our previous reports, the 2022 Scorpio will borrow its engine options from Mahindra Thar. It is likely to get the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options, with both manual and automatic transmission options. A spy shot of the base-spec Scorpio diesel manual revealed that the engine in the base-spec Scorpio produces 130PS. We expect Mahindra to offer the top-spec Scorpio with a more powerful engine tune. New reports also reveal that Mahindra will offer 4-wheel-drive with the petrol engine as well.
Mahindra are likely to launch the 2022 Scorpio between June and August 2022. The new Scorpio won’t have any direct rivals in the market. However, it could compete with the Tata Harrier and MG Hector in terms of price.
