Mahindra eKUV100 Likely To Launch Later This Year | V3Cars

Mahindra and Mahindra are likely to launch the eKUV100 by the end of 2022. First showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, Mahindra claimed that the eKUV100 would be priced under Rs. 10 lakh. However, the eKUV100 showcased at the Auto Expo featured a 15.9kWh battery, which gave the electric hatchback a claimed range of 120km on a single charge. This is significantly less than the claimed 306km range of the current most affordable EV, the Tata Tigor EV.

Hence, we expect Mahindra to make substantial changes to the eKUV100 to offer more range and performance. Rumours suggest that Mahindra could equip the eKUV100 with a bigger battery pack that could help it offer a range of 250km on a single charge. Further, the eKUV100 is based on the KUV100, which has become a bit long in the tooth.

When launched, the Mahindra eKUV100 could become the first electric car to get a price tag of under Rs. 10 lakh. The most affordable electric car in the country at the moment is the Tata Tigor EV, which is priced from Rs. 12 lakh ex-showroom. At launch, the eKUV100 won’t have any direct rivals, or at least until Tata Motors launch the Punch EV.

We also expect Mahindra to launch the eXUV300 (rumoured to be called XUV400) sometime next year.
