Made-In-India Jeep Wrangler To Launch On 15 March

Made-In-India Jeep Wrangler To Launch On 15 March | V3Cars

Earlier this year, Jeep India announced its plans to manufacture the Wrangler and the next-gen Grand Cherokee in India. Now, the carmaker has confirmed that the made-in-India Wrangler will go on sale on 15 March 2021 and the bookings are already underway. Since its launch in 2019, the Wrangler was brought in India as a CBU leading to its higher price. The Wrangler is currently priced from Rs 63.94 lakh to 68.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and with its localisation, the prices are expected to go down significantly.

Jeep has not revealed any details of the made-in-India Wrangler but we expect it to be similar to the current model which is being offered in two variants: Unlimited and Rubicon.

Under the hood, both versions are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 268PS and 400Nm paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the Wrangler Unlimited comes with a Selec-Trac 4WD system with a crawl ratio of 2.71:1, the Wrangler Rubicon gets a better Rock-Trac 4WD system with a crawl ratio of 4:1, courtesy of a full-time transfer case. It also gets additional locking front and rear differentials with an electronic swaybar disconnect.

Standard features on offer include automatic projector LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, DRLs, a 7-inch driver’s display, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone AC, push-button start, auto-dimming IRVM, remote start and a parking camera. Safety features on offer include four airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist with rollover mitigation, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Rubicon variant gets some cosmetic as well as mechanical updates over the Unlimited variant. It includes a performance suspension, decals on the bonnet, black fender flares, rock rails, body-coloured front grille and Mud terrain tyres.

The Jeep Wrangler will continue to compete with its sole rival the Land Rover Defender.
