June 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - C-Segment SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this June 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all C-segment SUVs in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all C-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

C-Segment SUV June 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

The Creta was the top-selling SUV in the segment in June. About 14,500 units of the Creta were sold in June 2023 compared to about 13,800 units in June 2022, which is a growth of 4.76%.
Volkswagen Tiguan and MG ZS EV, with 362% and 217% YoY gains in June comparison were the top gaining cars with 121.67% and 99% growth, respectively.
The top-losing car was Jeep Compass with over 76% drop in YoY comparison, followed by Kia Seltos with 57% YoY drop in June 2023 comparison analysis.
Next in line in the top list of losers was MG Astor, with a 45.67% YoY drop. It was followed by Tata Harrier, with a 32.34% decline in YoY comparison.
Nissan Kicks and Maruti S-Cross have been discontinued by their respective manufacturers in the past 12 months. 184 units of the Kicks and 697 units of the S-Cross were dispatched in June of 2022.
Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder were two cars that were introduced in the C-segment SUV category over the past year.
Although, Grand Vitara and Hyryder are the same recipe with different plating, over 10,000 units of the Grand VItara were dispatched, whereas barely 3,000 units of the Hyryder were sold in June 2023.

C-Segment SUV June 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

4 out of 14 cars reported a rise in MoM comparison in the June comparison analysis, which were Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Citroen C5 Aircross.
Here’s how the gainers stack up in ranking solely based on the MoM growth percentages:
- Citroen C5 Aircross : 100% (from 6 to 12)
- MG Astor : 50.51% (from 592 to 891)
- Skoda Kushaq : 26.59% (from 1,685 to 2,133)
- Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara : 18.13% (from 8,877 to 10,486)
MG ZS EV was the top MoM loser, with a 55.83% drop in sales over May 2023.
MG Astor reported a drop of 50.51% in MoM comparison for June over May.
MG Astor was followed by Jeep Compass with a 33.23% drop, Volkswagen Tiguan with 22.22% MoM drop in numbers.
Hyundai Kona reported zero dispatches till April. However, in June, 75 units of the EV were dispatched by Hyundai.
