2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee — Design

The new Grand Cherokee gets a sharper design over its predecessor with slimmer headlights and tail lights. The front gets Jeep’s signature 7-slat grille and ‘Jeep’ logo. Squared-off wheel arches, body cladding and machine-cut alloy wheels give the Grand Cherokee a rugged appeal. At the rear, the American SUV gets slim LED tail lights and a rear windshield with chrome surrounds. Overall, the new Grand Cherokee looks fresh and premium and carries a unique appeal over its German rivals.

Staying true to the Jeep credentials, the Grand Cherokee is the tallest SUV in the lot. However, it falls short in terms of length, width and wheelbase. The Q7 is the longest and also the one of the few SUVs in this class to offer 3-row seating. Jeep are yet to reveal the ground clearance of the Grand Cherokee.

The new Grand Cherokee offers class-leading tech with a 10.25-inch co-passenger touchscreen display. Additionally, it also packs a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 10.0-inch head up display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. That’s 4 displays for the 1st row occupants, each measuring 10.0-inch or more. Other features of the Grand Cherokee include active noise cancellation, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants with detection, leather seat upholstery, terrain response modes and advanced driving assistance system (ADAS).

Jeep Grand Cherokee and Volvo XC90 are the only 2 SUVs with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. The German trio, that is the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7, offer 3.0L turbo petrol engines. Additionally, the X5 and GLE also offer the option of turbo diesel engines. The Grand Cherokee not only falls short on displacement, but it is also the least powerful SUV in the segment. Hence, we can expect Jeep to price the Grand Cherokee competitively.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee — Launch Timeline And Rivals

Jeep have commenced bookings for the Grand Cherokee whereas the deliveries will begin in late November 2022. Jeep will reveal the prices of the Grand Cherokee in the coming days and it will go up against the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.
