Hyundai’s Tata HBX-Rival Spotted Testing In Its Production Form | V3Cars

Hyundai’s upcoming micro-SUV, AX1 (codename), has been spotted testing again. However, this time it looks production-ready.

Hyundai AX1

The AX1 gets a large front grille with a triangular pattern flanked by circular headlamps with DRLs placed in the bumper. The turn indicators are placed higher up similar to what we have seen on the Venue. Coming to the side, it gets a boxy silhouette with dual-tone alloys, roof rails, C-pillar mounted rear door handles and a shark-fin antenna. At the back, it gets a big windshield, LED tail lamps with triangular graphics and bumper-mounted circular reverse light with fog lamps that replicate the circular headlamps from the front.

The spy shots do not reveal anything about the interior of the AX1 but expect it to be similar to the other Hyundai SUVs. Similarly, features on offer should include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, parking camera, auto AC, a touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless mobile charging, electronic stability control and hill launch assist.

Hyundai AX1

Under the hood, the AX1 should be similar to the Grand i10 Nios. it is offered with three engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (83PS/113Nm), a 1.0-litre turbo petrol (100PS/172Nm) and a 1.2-litre diesel (75PS and 190Nm). All the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard with an option of 5-speed AMT with 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines.

Hyundai is expected to launch the AX1 SUV by 2022. It will take on the likes of the Maruti Ignis, Tata HBX and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. Prices are expected to range from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
