Hyundai Kona Electric Discontinued? Zero Sales In 3 Months | V3Cars
Update: Our sources in Hyundai have told us that the Kona Electric continues to remain on sale and is not discontinued. The model is listed on brand’s India website and the booking portal is also accessible for the customers.
Hyundai Kona Electric was the first long-range electric vehicle to launch in India in 2019. Since its India launch, the crossover has received various updates globally but none made it to the India-spec model. With zero sales recorded in the last 3 months, we think Hyundai have pulled the plug on the Kona Electric crossover.
Hyundai Kona Electric Discontinued?
In the months of February, March and April, 2023, Hyundai didn’t manage to sell even a single unit of the Kona Electric crossover. Since it was launched back in 2019, the competition quickly, which included the MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV, overtook the Hyundai crossover. Recently, we saw a few more launches in the compact electric crossover segment, including the BYD Atto 3 and Mahindra XUV400.

Hyundai launched the Kona Electric facelift in global markets in September 2020. While it was on the cards for an India launch, the carmaker didn’t launch the updated crossover in the country. Furthermore, Hyundai also revealed the second-generation Kona globally back in December 2022 and it will go on sale in the international markets this year. The India launch of the 2023 Kona Electric is yet to be confirmed by the carmaker.
