Hyundai Discontinue Asta DCT And CVT Variants Of The i20 | V3Cars

Hyundai recently discontinued two variants of the i20 hatchback. The discontinued variants include the Asta 1.0L turbo petrol DCT and Asta 1.2L normal petrol CVT. A couple of months ago, Hyundai introduced the range-topping Asta (O) 1.2L normal petrol CVT and Sportz 1.0L turbo petrol DCT options.

Hyundai India rejigged the variants of the i20 multiple times before. There were also rumours about Hyundai launching the i20 Era Executive to take hold of the lost ground to rivals like the Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz. While we never saw the launch of the Era Executive, Hyundai recently discontinued the Asta DCT and CVT variants of the i20. As a result, both the 1.0L turbo petrol DCT and 1.2L normal petrol CVT are now only available in Sportz and Asta (O) variants.

The i20 range currently starts from Rs. 7.03 lakh and goes to Rs. 11.38 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. Hyundai offer the i20 with 3 engine options — an 83PS 1.2L petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and CVT, a 120PS 1.0L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5L turbo diesel with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai i20 competes with the Maruti Nexa Baleno, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, and Volkswagen Polo. It is worth noting that the production of the Volkswagen Polo recently stopped and Volkswagen aren’t planning to replace their premium hatchback any time soon.
