1.0L Turbo Petrol Engine No Longer Available With Nios And Aura

The Grand i10 Nios and Aura were the only offerings in their respective segments to offer a turbo petrol engine. However, it seems that the turbo petrol engines in the Nios and Aura didn’t contribute enough in sales to serve another stint. Hence, Hyundai have pulled the plug on the turbo petrol engine options for both Nios hatchback and Aura sedan.

The new Grand i10 Nios and Aura facelifts are now only available with a 1.2L normal petrol engine that can be had with a 5-speed manual, 5-speed automated manual or a CNG manual option. The 1.2L normal petrol engine produces 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 4000rpm. With the CNG option, the power and torque outputs drop down to 69PS and 95Nm, respectively.

The 1.0L turbo petrol engine in the Nios and Aura, on the other hand, offered 100PS of power at 6000rpm and 172Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4000rpm. Hyundai offered this engine with a sole 5-speed manual transmission whereas in other models, it comes with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed auto-clutch manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission options as well. This engine will continue to serve in the Venue and Verna, complying with the upcoming BS6 Phase-II emission norms.
