Hyundai Alcazar Unveiled | V3Cars

After teasing the Alcazar some time back, Hyundai has now revealed the Creta-based 7-seater SUV. It comes shortly after the carmaker revealed its engine specs a few days ago.

Hyundai has showcased just the front and side profile of the 7-seater SUV. Upfront, it looks largely similar to the Creta save for a new 3D grille, slightly updated headlamps, fog lamps and redesigned front faux skid plate. The side profile also looks similar but gets a modified rear half to accommodate the extra length and wheelbase. It also gets new 18-inch alloys replacing the 17-inch units found on the Creta.

Hyundai has not yet revealed the dimensions of the Alcazar but has confirmed it will have a wheelbase of 2760mm, 150mm longer than the Creta and a boot space of 180L. The extra wheelbase should result in better legroom for second row of occupants.

The Alcazar will be offered with both 6-and 7-seater configurations. While the 7-seater Alcazar will get a bench-type seat in the second row, the 6-seater version will be offered with captain seats. For added versatility, the second row of seats will get sliding and reclining functionality, while the third row of seats will only be reclining.

Under the hood, the Alcazar will be offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 159PS/191Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 115PS/250Nm. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Although Hyundai has not revealed the fuel economy figures of the engines but claims that the Alcazar will have the best in class fuel economy. Hyundai also claims that the petrol Alcazar will have a 0-100kmph time of less than 10 seconds.

Hyundai has not yet revealed the entire feature list of the Alcazar but has confirmed that it will be equipped with ventilated front seats and auto AC with dedicated AC vents for the 2nd and 3rd row. That said, the 7-seater Alcazar is expected to borrow the majority of its features from the Creta. It gets a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose sound system, digital instrument cluster, wireless mobile charging, electronic parking brake, LED headlamps, upto 6 airbags, hill launch assist and electronic stability program.

Hyundai is expected to launch the Alcazar in the coming few months. Prices are expected to range from Rs 14 lakh to 20 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500.
