Honda Cars India are readying 2 new SUVs for India. The 1st one will be a sub-compact SUV to take on the likes of the Tata Nexon and Maruti Arena Brezza. Honda Sub-compact SUV (Codenamed PF2)

Honda’s upcoming sub-compact, codenamed PF2, will make use of the Honda Amaze platform which also shares a lot in common with the 3rd-gen Honda City. Honda’s sub-compact SUV will go up against the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue.

It goes without saying that the PF2 will replace the WR-V crossover that’s currently on sale. However, the PF2 is likely to carry forward the WR-V’s 1.2L normal petrol engine and the Amaze’s 1.5L turbo diesel engine. We can also expect its higher variants to pack the City’s 1.5L normal petrol engine. As per reports, Honda are expecting to sell 6,200 units of the PF2 per month after its launch sometime in mid-2023.

Honda Compact SUV (Codenamed PF2S)

Honda are also working on a compact SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. This compact SUV too will be based on Amaze’s platform, albeit with a few modifications. Our sources suggest that Honda will offer seating for upto 7 passengers in the upcoming compact SUV, apart from regular 5-seat variants. Honda’s compact SUV will share its petrol and diesel engine options with the 5th-gen City, including the hybrid powertrain from the City e:HEV hybrid.

We expect Honda to localise the City e:HEV hybrid’s powertrain to keep costs in check. It is crucial for Honda to keep the prices affordable as both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are gearing up to launch strong hybrid SUVs later this year. Honda, however, will only launch the upcoming compact SUV in 2024. As per sources, Honda have an estimated sales projection of 4,100 units per month for the PF2S compact SUV.
