Honda Cars India are gearing up to launch the 2022 City e:HEV hybrid compact sedan in May 2022. Equipped with a small battery pack and two electric motors, the City e:HEV packs a lot of tech under its bonnet. The City e:HEV hybrid gets several mechanical and functional changes over the standard City. Speaking of the mechanical changes, the City e:HEV hybrid gets a 1.5L normal petrol engine mated with two electric motors. The engine charges a small battery pack that is stored in the boot. On the other hand, the City petrol gets a 1.5L normal petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-step CVT automatic ‘box.

Speaking of the functional changes, the City e:HEV gets autonomous driving assistance systems (ADAS), rear disc brakes, regenerative braking, drive modes and an electric parking brake with auto-hold. The City e:HEV hybrid also gets a few cosmetic changes, such as a tweaked front grille with blue elements, new fog lamp housing, a faux diffuser at the rear and a boot lip spoiler. These changes are likely to make the City e:HEV hybrid sedan around Rs. 2.26 lakh more expensive than corresponding petrol variants.
