Exclusive: MG To Launch 2022 Hector Facelift By November End | V3Cars

According to our sources, MG Motor are set to launch the 2022 Hector facelift by the end of November 2022. The new Hector will come with a refreshed design and new features, including a segment-largest touchscreen infotainment system.

2022 MG Hector

MG Motor India launched the Hector in June 2019 and it received a facelift with an updated set of features and a refreshed design in January 2021. Although MG are calling the upcoming 2022 model as a new-generation of the Hector, we will reserve our judgement till we get more details about it. As per our sources, MG will kickstart dealership training for the new Hector by mid-November.

Recently, MG Motor India earlier revealed their plans to keep the current Hector on sale alongside the 2022 model. In terms of updates for the 2022 Hector, we expect it to come with a larger grille and tweaked headlamp clusters. We also expect a new design for the alloy wheels along with a reworked rear profile.

On the inside, the 2022 MG Hector will get a new dashboard layout with a segment-leading 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system. The new infotainment system will offer in-built GPS maps along with online video chat support. In addition to that, the 2022 Hector is also likely to get a full-colour LCD instrument cluster. We also expect MG to offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with the new Hector.

In terms of powertrains, the new Hector is likely to come with the same 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L turbo diesel engine options as the current model. While the 1.5L turbo petrol may retain its manual, manual hybrid and CVT automatic options, we expect MG to finally offer the Hector with a diesel automatic option. Currently, the MG Hector only gets a 6-speed manual transmission with the 2.0L diesel engine. MG Hector rivals other premium SUVs like the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass.
