BMW M340i To Go On Sale In India On 10 March | V3Cars

BMW is all set to launch a sportier version of the 3 Series in India. Called the M340i, it an M Performance version of the 3 Series sedan which went on sale in India in 2019.

The M340i is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder twin turbo petrol engine that makes 382PS of power and 500Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission working in tandem with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system. The standard 3 Series petrol gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine making 258PS and 400Nm paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. When launched, the M340i will be the most powerful 3 Series on sale in India. 

The mechanical updates on the M340i are not limited to the engine bay. It also gets updated M-specific suspensions, M Sport differential, M Sport brakes and an M Sport exhaust system. All these parts come together to offer better driving dynamics on the M340i compared to the standard 3 Series sedan. 

In terms of features, the M340i should be similar to the higher variants of the 3 Series sedan. It gets features such as LED headlamps, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and gesture control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, multiple airbags and cruise control with braking function. 

The M340i will be the 8th M Performance model to go on sale in India after the Z4 M40i, M2 Competition, X3 M, X7 M50d, X5 M Competition, M8 Coupe and the M760Li xDrive.  That said, it will be the first M Performance car to be locally assembled in India. As a result, expect it prices to start around Rs 60 lakh. The standard 3 Series, on the other hand, is priced from Rs 42.60 lakh to Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). BMW also offers the LWB verision of the 3 Series in India. Called the 3 Series Gran Limousine, it retails from Rs 51.50 lakh to Rs 53.90 lakh (ex-showroom India).
