BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Now Available With A Petrol Engine | V3Cars

BMW launched the 2 Series Gran Coupe back in October 2020 but since then it was offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine only. The German carmaker has now introduced a new fully loaded petrol variant of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, christened the 220i. It is priced at Rs 40.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). With this launch, BMW has also given the 2 Series diesel a price hike of up to Rs 1.1 lakh.

The 2 Series Gran Coupe 220i is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 190PS and 280Nm mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It can go from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than its diesel counterpart. The 220i has claimed fuel economy of 14.82kmpl. The 220d, on the other hand, gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 190PS and 400Nm paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. 

In terms of features, the 220i M Sport replicates the 220d M Sport. It gets auto LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC with rear AC vents, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control, cruise control, wireless mobile charging, ambient lighting, parking camera and electrically adjustable front seats. Safety features on offer include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors and electronic stability control. 

Currently, the 2 Series Gran Coupe does have any direct rivals in India but Mercedes Benz is gearing up to launch the A-Class sedan in India soon.
