A-Segment Cars Sales Analysis

A-Segment Hatchback August 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • Among the mass volume cars from the A-segment hatchback category, Maruti’s Alto/Alto-K10 twins were the biggest gainer, with an 8.7% YoY growth in August
  • The Hyundai Santro witnessed a 100% drop in sales in August 2022 compared to the same month last year
  • The Datsun Redi-Go’s sales dropped by a 100% in YoY comparison since the hatchback was discontinued
  • The Celerio saw the biggest YoY change in August 2022, with a gain from just 53 units in August 2021 to almost 6,000 cars sold in August 2022
  • Th skewed YoY gain of the Celerio is because it was about to get a generation change last year and had less demand as customers were waiting for the updated model

A-Segment Hatchback August 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • The Alto/Alto-K10 twins were the biggest gainer in MoM comparison as well, with a 58.72% MoM growth in August 2022
  • The Santro failed to find a sinble buyer in August 2022. Hence, we expect it to be discontinued soon
  • The Kwid was the second biggest winner in MoM comparison, with a 28.22% rise in dispatches
  • The Maruti S-Presso was the top loser, with a 31% decline in dispatches in August 2022
