All New Hyundai Cars And SUVs Now Compatible With E20 Fuel | V3Cars

Hyundai recently launched the new Verna 2023 with BS6 phase-2 compliant and E20 fuel-ready petrol engines. Since the launch of the C2-segment sedan, Hyundai updated their entire range of cars and SUVs to comply with BS6 phase-2 emission norms. Additionally, all new petrol-powered Hyundai cars now get engines that can run on E20 fuel.

The first Hyundai car launched with BS6 phase-2 and road driving emission (RDE) compliant engines was the Tucson SUV. The 2.0L normal petrol engine of the Tucson is also E20 fuel ready, which will roll out in 2025. The same engine powered the Alcazar until recently. However, Hyundai have replaced the Alcazar’s 2.0L normal petrol engine with a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine.

The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine is manufactured in India and currently powers the new Alcazar and Verna 2023. The same engine also powers the Kia Carens, which, too, received updates for the latest emission norms. It is worth mentioning that the new 1.5L turbo petrol engine replaces the older 1.35L turbo petrol engine (1.4L in Hyundai speak) that was assembled in India.

Take a look at the specifications of the new 1.5L turbo petrol engine:

The launch of the Grand i10 Nios and Aura faccelifts also marked the introduction of the updated, BS6 phase 2-compliant and E20 fuel-ready 1.2L normal petrol engine. The same 1.2L normal petrol engine also powers the lower variants of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

During the transition to BS6 phase-2 norms, Hyundai phased out 2 engine options — the 1.35L turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5L WGT turbo diesel. The 1.35L turbo petrol engine powered the Hyundai Creta turbo, which is no longer on sale. We expect Hyundai to offer the new 1.5L turbo petrol engine in the Creta facelift. You can read more about it here. Meanwhile, the Venue has ditched the 1.5L turbo diesel engine, which was available with a wastegate turbocharger (WGT), for a more powerful tune of the same engine equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger.
