2023 Tata Nexon Facelift With Automatic Transmission Spotted

2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Automatic Spotted — Likely To Get DCT | V3Cars

Tata Motors are currently testing the upcoming Nexon facelift and the latest spy shots of the B2-segment SUV reveal its new automatic transmission. While the Nexon currently comes with both manual and automated manual transmission options (AMT), the Nexon facelift could offer a dual-clutch automatic (DCT) option with the petrol engine.

Tata Nexon Facelift Likely To Offer Petrol-DCT Option

Currently, the Tata Nexon comes with a choice of 2 engine options — 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel. Both engines come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. However, Tata Motors showcased a brand new 1.2L turbo petrol engine at the 2023 Auto Expo. While the carmaker stated that this engine would debut in the upcoming Tata Curvv, we believe it will power the Nexon facelift first.

With the demand for cars and SUVs equipped with an automatic transmission on the rise, Tata could equip the Nexon facelift with the new engine and mate it to the dual clutch gearbox from the Altroz hatchback. In fact, the latest spy shots reveal a ‘P’, or park, mode next to the gear lever. AMT-equipped cars do not come with a ‘P’ label on the gear lever and hence, we believe this test mule is hiding Tata’s DCT transmission underneath.

According to Tata Motors, the new 1.2L turbo petrol engine produces 125PS of power and 190Nm of torque. The top variants of the Nexon could also offer a higher 225Nm torque output with the new petrol engine. This engine could offer the option of both 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Currently, the 1.2L turbo petrol engine of the Nexon offers 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque.

Tata Nexon Facelift Exterior Changes

The Nexon facelift is likely to offer a split LED headlight design, which will make it fall in line with the smaller Punch and larger Harrier SUVs. It could feature a connected LED light bar covering the width of the front and merging with the Tata logo at the centre. The main headlight, on the other hand, will sit lower on the bumper and it could feature LED projector headlamps with white illumination.

Around the side, the Nexon facelift continues to come with wheel arch cladding and flared wheel arches. The new facelift could offer a new design for the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the Nexon facelift will offer slimmer LED tail lights with a connected LED light bar.

Tata Nexon Facelift Interior And Features

Tata Motors are likely to offer major changes on the inside of the Nexon facelift. To begin with, it is likely to feature Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and telematics. It could also feature the new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, which made its debut in the new Safari and Harrier SUVs. Furthermore, the layout of the dashboard could also get a design overhaul and we expect Tata to improve the fit and finish levels over the current Nexon B2-segment SUV. A new steering wheel similar to the one seen on the Curvv concept SUV could also be part of the package.

Tata Nexon Facelift Launch Details And Rivals

Since the Nexon is currently one of the oldest SUVs in the B2-segment space, Tata Motors could launch the Nexon facelift around August this year. The new Nexon could be Tata’s offering for the upcoming festive season. It will rival the recently updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue facelift. Its other segment rivals include the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
