2023 BMW XM SUV Breaks Cover — First Exclusive M Model After The M1 | V3Cars
BMW have taken the wraps off the all-new XM and it’s the first dedicated M SUV from the German marque. After the BMW M1, the M division once again used a blank sheet of paper to engineer the XM. It comes with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and a plug-in-hybrid system.
BMW revealed the XM concept in 2021 and all it got was criticism for its rather ungainly design. We are not really happy to report that the production-spec XM is very close to the concept in terms of design. It gets the colossal kidney grille up front, flanked by split LED headlights. The lower part of the bumper gets a blacked-out treatment, which lends it a sporty look.

Around the side, the XM has a chrome running garnish that starts from the side fenders and sweeps upwards before joining the window line. Additionally, it gets 21-inch alloy wheels, which can be specced to up to 23-inch. At the rear, the XM gets a flat rear windscreen that sits atop the inverted LED tail lights. The lower bumper houses quad exhaust outlets and a diffuser. Overall, the XM breaks new grounds when it comes to design but whether they are positive or negative, we leave that for you to decide.
Stepping on the inside, the XM boasts a single curved glass that houses a 14.9-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Other features include M sports seats, M steering wheel, ambient lighting, head-up display, gesture control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree parking camera and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

The BMW XM comes with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and a plug-in-hybrid system. The combined power and torque output stand at 653PS and 800Nm of torque. The electric motor contributes 197PS of power and 280Nm of torque. It draws power from a 25.7kWh battery pack placed in the underbody of the XM. The battery pack in the XM offers an all-electric range of up to 88km and speeds of up to 140kmph. Thanks to all that performance, the XM can sprint from standstill to 100kmph in 4.3 seconds. If that isn’t exciting enough, BMW will soon launch the XM Label Red with 748PS and 1000Nm of torque on tap.
