BMW India Tease iX1 SUV — Launch Likely Soon | V3Cars

BMW India have teased the new iX1 SUV on their social media handle, hinting towards an imminent launch. BMW revealed the iX1 alongside the ICE-powered X1 back in June 2022. The iX1 will become the 4th all-electric offering from BMW India.

Unlike the India-spec X1 that is only offered with a 2WD drivetrain, the iX1 gets all-wheel-drive as standard thanks to its twin electric motor setup. The combined power and torque output of the twin electric motors, which are mounted at each axle, stand at 313PS and 494Nm, respectively.

The electric motors draw power from a 64.7kWh battery pack that sits under the floor of the SUV. The iX1 offers a WLTP-certified range of 440km on a single charge. Since the ARAI testing standards are comparatively lenient compared to WLTP cycle, the ARAI-certified range of the iX1 could cross the 600km range mark. In terms of charging, the BMW iX1 is capable of charging its batteries from 0-80% in just 29 minutes with the help of a 130kW DC fast charger.

BMW iX1 Launch Details

BMW are likely to reveal the iX1 electric SUV in the coming weeks and launch it soon after. When launched, the new iX1 will become the most affordable all-electric BMW, sitting below the i4 sedan, iX SUV and i7 sedan. The new iX1 will rival other electric SUVs like the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Mercedes-Benz GLB, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.
