2022 Maruti Baleno Could Get A New Top Variant Over Alpha

2022 Maruti Baleno Could Get A New Top Variant Over Alpha | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki offer the current version of the Baleno hatchback in 4 variants, namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Sigma is the base variant while Alpha is the top-spec trim. However, we know that the new Baleno will get several new features, such as HUD, 6 airbags, ESP and connected car technology, over the current Baleno.

These feature additions could increase the prices of the top variants significantly. Hence, to bridge the gap between the mid-spec and top-spec variant, Maruti could introduce a new top-of-the-line variant over the Alpha trim.

Current Baleno Petrol Variants and Prices

Variant

Prices

Sigma MT

Rs. 6.14 lakh

Delta MT

Rs. 7.01 lakh

Zeta MT

Rs. 7.70 lakh

Alpha MT

Rs. 8.46 lakh

* automatic and hybrid models not included

As you can see in the table above, the upgrade from Zeta to Alpha costs Rs. 76,000. However, considering the fact that the new Baleno’s top variant will several new features, we expect Maruti to charge more premium for this upgrade. Hence, we think the price difference between new Zeta and Alpha variants to be more than Rs. 1 lakh.

The high upgrade cost could demotivate customers from upgrading to the top-spec model. That means the sales of the top variant could take a hit. To prevent this, Maruti Suzuki could introduce a new, fully loaded variant over the Alpha trim for customers who do not want to compromise on features. With the addition of the new variant, Maruti Suzuki could maintain a price gap of roughly Rs. 50,000 between variants.
