2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift Teased Ahead Of Official Debut | V3Cars
Maruti launched the third-gen Swift back in 2018 and it’s about time the hatchback receives a mid-life facelift. Now, it seems like the carmaker is all set to launch the updated Swift as it has teased the upcoming hatchback on its website and some social media platforms.
From what is visible in the teaser images, the updated hatchback will get a new front grille with a honeycomb finish and a thick chrome element underlining the Suzuki logo. Other cosmetic updates, although not visible on the teaser images, should be minimalistic in nature. Similarly, on the inside, the cabin layout should remain unchanged and the only change here should come in the form of updated upholstery.
The teaser images also confirm that the updated Swift will now be equipped with cruise control and a coloured MID, unlike the current model. Other features are expected to remain similar to the current model including auto LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, push-button start, auto AC, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, front fog lamps, height-adjustable driver’s seat, parking camera and a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety features on offer include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Under the hood, the facelifted Swift will get the new K12N 1.2-litre petrol engine which debuted on the Baleno and Dzire facelift. It replaces the K12M petrol engine found on the current Swift. While in the Baleno this engine is paired to a mild hybrid system, on the Dzire facelift, it is equipped with an idle start-stop sytem. On the Swift facelift, it will be offered with an idle start-stop system. It makes 89PS of power and 113Nm of peak torque, 6PS more than the K12M unit. Transmission options will remain unchanged as it will continue to get a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. Thanks to this new K12N engine, the Swift facelift will be more frugal than the outgoing model.
Prices of the Swift facelift are expected to start at a slight premium over the current model which retails from Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Ford Figo and Ford Freestyle.
