List Of Upcoming MPVs At Auto Expo 2023

The 2023 Auto Expo is just around the corner and we expect carmakers to showcase and/or launch several cars at the auto show. Several carmakers, such as Tata, Toyota, Kia and Renault, are set to showcase their latest MPVs or facelifts of their current models at the Auto Expo 2023. Check them out below.

Upcoming MPVs

Tata Avinya

Avinya

Back in 2022, Tata Motors showcased the Avinya concept as an electric MPV. However, Tata Motors are yet to reveal the specifications of the Avinya EV and we expect them to do so at the Auto Expo 2023. The Tata Avinya showcases Tata Motors’ Gen 3 electric vehicle platform. Tata claim that the Avinya MPV’s new drivetrain offers a range of over 500km per charge. If launched, the Avinya could serve as Tata’s flagship product in the Indian market. We expect the Avinya to boast a twin electric motor setup, which would give the MPV all-wheel-drive capabilities. At this point in time, it is unsure if the Avinya is just a design study or a preview to a future electric vehicle from Tata Motors.

2023 Kia Carnival

Kia Carnival

The 2023 Kia Carnival is already on sale in several global markets. We expect Kia India to showcase the new generation Kia Carnival at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new Kia Carnival gets rid of its predecessors van-like styling for a more SUV-esque design. The new design alone should garner enough interest in Kia’s people carrier. As far as the powertrain is concerned, we expect the India-spec new-gen Kia Carnival to retain the previous model’s 2.2L diesel engine and 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. In its current guise, this engine makes 202PS of power at 3800rpm and 441Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 2750rpm. With a fresh new design and updated feature list, we expect Kia to charge a substantial premium for the new Carnival over its predecessor. The current Kia MPV is priced between Rs. 31.00 lakh to Rs. 35.50 lakh ex-showroom.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross

Toyota India recently launched the Innova Hycross in India with a starting price of Rs. 18.30 lakh ex-showroom. The Innova Hycross sits on a monocoque platform and its strong hybrid powertrain channels power to the front wheels. Apart from a normal 2.0L petrol engine, the Innova Hycross also comes with a 2.0L hybrid petrol engine with a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl. We expect Toyota’s pavillion to be a busy one thanks to the new Innova Hycross.

Toyota Innova Crysta

Toyota Crsyta

While unveiling the new Innova Hycross, Toyota silently removed the Innova Crysta from their website. However, the Japanese carmaker promised that the Crysta would make a comeback soon with an updated diesel engine. Hence, we can expect Toyota to showcase the Innova Crysta at the Auto Expo 2023. It is likely to receive an updated version of the 2.4L diesel engine to make it compliant with BS6 phase-2 emission norms. We expect Toyota to price the updated Innova Crysta aggressively to entice fleet operators.

Renault Triber Facelift, Turbo

Triber

Renault are likely to showcase the Triber facelift at the 2023 Auto Expo. Along with the facelift, we also expect Renault to introduce the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine in the Triber. The weakest link in the current Triber is its 1.0L normal petrol engine, which is inadequate to haul 7 passengers. With the turbo petrol engine, the Triber will finally become a worthy competitor to the more expensive and bigger Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens.
