MG Motor Showcase Multiple Models At 2023 Auto Expo – Considering India Launch

MG Motor India showcased a slew of plug-in hybrid and electric models at the 2023 Auto Expo. MG Motor said they are considering some of these models for the Indian market.  Here is a list of models that are on display at the 2023 Auto Expo.

MG Plug-In & EV Models

MG4 Electric Hatchback

The MG4 is MG’s latest electric hatchback and it sits on an all-electric skateboard platform. MG offer the MG4 with 2 battery pack options — 51kWh and 64kWh. While it looks small thanks to its hatchback styling, the MG4 actually measures similar to the MG ZS EV. The larger 64kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 450km on a single charge. The Trophy edition of the MG4 comes with a twin motor setup that offers 203PS of power and 250Nm of torque. MG are evaluating the MG4 for the Indian market and it could boost the carmaker’s market share in the electric vehicle segment.

MG5 Electric Estate

MG also showcased their award-winning electric estate called the MG5. It shares its electric platform with the MG4 but offers better space and practicality. Unlike the MG4, it comes with a front-wheel drivetrain only. Its power and torque outputs stand at 156PS and 279Nm of torque. The MG5 offers a claimed range of up to 403km on a single charge. The MG5 can replenish its battery from 10% to 80% in just 61 minutes using a 50kW charger. MG are also considering the MG5 for the Indian market and its already on sale in European markets.

MG eHS Plug-In Hybrid SUV

The MG eHS is a plug-in hybrid offering from MG Motor that is currently on sale in European markets. The MG EHS comes with a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine along with a plug-in-hybrid setup. The engine alone produces 161PS of power and 250Nm of torque between 1700rpm and 4300rpm. The electric motor produces 122PS of power and 230Nm of torque and it draws power from a 16.6kWh battery pack. MG currently do not offer any plug-in hybrid model in the market and the eHS could be the perfect way to kick start their journey in the said segment.

MG eMG6 Plug-in Hybrid Sedan

MG showcased the MG6 sedan at the 2020 Auto Expo and for the 2023 edition, the carmaker brought the eMG6 that offers a plug-in-hybrid powertrain. The eMG6 measures 4722mm in length, 1890mm in width, 1456mm in height and offers a boot space of 498L. It comes with a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine along with a 11.1kWh battery pack. In pure EV mode, the eMG6 can cover 70km without burning any fuel. Its power and torque outputs stand at 305PS and 480Nm. If MG decide to launch the eMG6 in India, it will sit above the Toyota Camry

MG Mifa 9 Electric MPV

MG also showcased the Mifa 9 electric family mover that is larger than the Kia Carnival. It comes with a 90kWh battery pack that promises up to 520km of range on a single charge. It supports 11kW AC charger and we expect it to comply with DC fast charging support as well. The Mifa 9 offers 244PS of power and 350Nm of torque. In terms of dimensions, the Mifa 9 measures 5270mm in length, 2000mm in width, 1840mm in height and offers a boot space of 466L. If MG decide to launch the Mifa 9 in India, it will sit above the BYD e6 and Kia Carnival.

MG Marvel R Electric SUV

MG showcased the Marvel concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and at the 2023 Auto Expo, we got a preview of the production-spec Marvel R electric SUV. The Marvel R comes with a tri-motor setup that draws power from a 70kWh battery pack. It does the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 4.9 seconds. Its power and torque outputs stand at 288PS and 665Nm, respectively. It measures 4674mm in length, 1919mm in width, 1618mm in height and offers a boot space of 507L.
