2022 Maruti Ertiga Facelift – 6 Things We Can Expect | V3Cars
Maruti have officially teased the 2022 Ertiga facelift and opened bookings for the same. The 2022 Ertiga will be sold via Maruti’s Arena network of dealerships. We have also come to learn that the Ertiga facelift will go on sale before Maruti Nexa’s XL6 facelift.
Before the launch, we bring you all the changes you can expect in the new Ertiga.
-
Design
The Ertiga facelift will receive minimal changes to its exterior design. The teaser shows a new grille and a new design for the alloy wheels. The headlights remain unchanged in the teaser image. However, Maruti could restyle the bumpers to differentiate the new Ertiga better from the pre-facelift model. Other bits of the car are expected to remain the same.

Features
Due to the tough competition in the MPV space after the arrival of Kia Carens, Maruti are considering increasing the number of premium features in the Ertiga to appeal to more buyers. Maruti have confirmed that the new Ertiga will get the new SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with telematics that we first saw in the 2022 Baleno. However, it will be smaller and stand at 7.0-inch compared to the 9.0-inch unit of the Baleno. This is probably to maintain the premium image of Nexa cars.
Maruti could also provide the new Ertiga with a 360-degree camera setup. We will also see paddle shifters behind the steering wheel in the automatic variants. The rest of the interior is expected to remain the same. As the Kia Carens comes with 6 airbags as standard, we can expect the new Ertiga to get 6 airbags at least in the top-spec variants.
-
CNG In Top Variant
As of now, you can buy the Ertiga with a CNG kit only in the mid-spec VXi trim. Maruti will now provide the option of CNG in the range-topping ZXi variant as well. This will let customers buy a feature-loaded people mover with a factory-fitted CNG kit. However, just like before, you will get it only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Expect the price premium for the CNG over the petrol-only powertrain to remain the same, i.e. Rs. 95,000.

Engine
The Ertiga facelift’s biggest change lies under the bonnet. The updated Ertiga will use a new 1.5L, 4-cylinder dual-jet normal petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The new engine will get two injectors per cylinder. This not only increases power output but also helps increase fuel efficiency. We expect this engine to produce around 115PS of power, a good 10PS over the old engine. The fuel efficiency too will increase due to the addition of this new technology.
-
Transmission
Another big highlight of the 2022 Ertiga facelift will be the new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It will replace the ageing 4-speed TC and come with paddle shifters. This too will help increase the fuel efficiency of the Ertiga.

Price
Given the additional features, new automatic transmission and dual-jet technology, we can expect a bump in the prices. The current avatar of the Ertiga costs between Rs. 8.11 lakh and Rs. 10.12 lakh for the petrol manual variants. The automatic variants command a premium of Rs. 1.20 lakh over the manual variants. With the facelift, we can expect the prices of Ertiga to go up by Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000. The upgrade to the automatic transmission could cost around Rs. 1.50 lakh.
You can book the new Ertiga by either visiting a Maruti Arena dealer or their official website. The token amount for booking the 2022 Ertiga is Rs. 11,000. We expect the new Ertiga to go on sale by mid-April.
