Volkswagen Virtus Spied On Test - Global Unveil On March 8 | V3Cars

The Volkswagen Virtus has been spied testing on Indian roads, wearing heavy camouflage. Volkswagen is set to unveil the Virtus on March 8, ahead of its launch in May 2022. The 2022 Virtus will sport multiple changes over the current version, which is on sale in a few global markets.

The 2022 Volkswagen Virtus borrows several styling cues from its SUV sibling, the Taigun. Highlights include a chrome grille, LED headlights, and a strong character line. In terms of dimensions, it will be similar in size as the Skoda Slavia, which currently boasts of the largest wheelbase in the segment.

On the inside, we expect the 2022 Virtus to sport a similar dashboard layout and features as the Taigun. The Virtus could get features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster, cruise control, and front ventilated seats.

2022 VW Virtus

In terms of powertrains, Volkswagen will offer two petrol engines with the Virtus. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine will produce 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine will produce 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Virtus will rival other C-segment sedans like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. We expect Volkswagen to price the Virtus in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
