Volkswagen Virtus Expected Launch Details

Volkswagen Virtus Expected Launch Details | V3Cars

Volkswagen India will unveil the Virtus in March, ahead of its launch in May 2022. The 2022 Volkswagen Virtus will share its platform and powertrains with the Skoda Slavia. We expect the Virtus to offer a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine along with respective automatic gearbox options.

Volkswagen Virtus

Volkswagen launched the Virtus in the South American market in 2017. The one which is set to be sold in the Indian market will get several changes in terms of design and underpinnings. We expect the new Virtus to take inspiration from the bigger Volkswagen sedans with an understated and clean design.

On the inside, the Virtus should resemble the Taigun owing to the expected part sharing. The 2022 Volkswagen Virtus may offer features like a fully-digital instrument cluster, 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, touch-based climate controls, 6 airbags, and cruise control.

On the powertrains front, Volkswagen will offer two petrol engines with the Virtus. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine will produce 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque, mated with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine will produce 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque, mated with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Volkswagen Virtus could boast the longest dimensions in its segment, including the segment-best wheelbase. It will rival Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The former two rivals of the Virtus also offer a choice of diesel powertrain, which the Virtus will miss.
