Upcoming Mahindra EVs Based On INGLO Platform To Get VW Components | V3Cars
Mahindra and Volkswagen have officially confirmed their partnership after signing a term sheet in 2022. As part of the new partnership, Volkswagen will supply Mahindra their MEB electric vehicle components for use in Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUVs.
Upcoming Mahindra EVs With VW Components
Mahindra have currently lined up 5 electric SUVs for India and these will be sold under 2 sub-brands – XUV.e and BE. The XUV.e range will consist of the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 while the BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09 will make up Mahindra born electric BE range. All 5 SUVs will be based on Mahindra’s EV-dedicated INGLO platform and will feature VW’s electric vehicle components and battery packs.
Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix, or MEB platform, currently underpins a host of VW and Audi electric cars. They use a common battery pack design and uniform cell-to-pack technology that uses lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) batteries. Under the new partnership, Mahindra will gain access to both MEB components and the LFP battery technology. The battery packs for the Mahindra EVs are likely to offer a capacity of 60 - 80kWh and 175kW rapid charging capability. The 80kWh battery pack should give Mahindra’s upcoming eSUVs a range of 435-450 kilometres.

The upcoming Mahindra EVs will be offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Mahindra say the SUVs with rear-wheel–drive will produce between 230PS and 290PS of power while the all-wheel drive versions will put out 340PS to 390PS.
The XUV.e8 or XUV700 will be the first product to launch with the new platform. We expect Mahindra to showcase the XUv.e8 and its coupe version, the XUV.e9, in December 2024. Both SUVs will go on sale in early 2025 and will be followed by the BE.05.
