Here’s a list of all upcoming CNG cars that are set to launch in India in 2024. While the brands in this list are yet to confirm any CNG car launches in 2024, we expect the new Tata Punch CNG facelift and Citroen C3 CNG to go on sale this year. Additionally, Toyota are likely to launch the Taisor, a crossover based on the Maruti Fronx that gets a CNG powertrain option. Let’s begin the list with cars that are likely to launch in early 2024.

Toyota are likely to kickstart 2024 with the new Taisor. The Taisor is expected to be a rebadged version of the Maruti Nexa Fronx. So we expect it to feature the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.2-litre normal petrol engine as the popular Nexa SUV. Additionally, the Taisor could also get the Fronx’s 1.2L CNG engine that produces 77.5PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque. Like the Fronx CNG, the Taisor CNG is expected to come with a manual transmission only. Maruti Suzuki claim the Fronx is rated to deliver 28.51kmpkg. Hence, expect Toyota to claim similar mileage figures for the Taisor as well.

Tata Punch CNG

Punch CNG

The Tata Punch is set to receive a facelift soon and it is likely to debut alongside the upcoming Punch EV in the first half of 2024. It is expected to feature the same design revisions as its electric counterpart. While the Punch small SUV will retain its current petrol and CNG engines, it could gain new features like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, illuminated steering wheel, touch-based climate control, and more. Tata could even offer the top variants of the Punch with ADAS for enhanced safety.

Currently, the Tata Punch CNG’s 1.2L engine produces 74PS of power and 103Nm of torque. It offers a claimed mileage of 26.99kmpkg. We do not expect these figures to change with the Punch facelift. However, the Punch CNG facelift’s prices could go up from the current starting price of Rs. 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Citroen C3 CNG

C3 CNG

The Citroen C3 CNG was spotted testing in the country multiple times in the past. The C3 CNG is expected to be powered by a 1.2L naturally aspirated CNG engine. When running on petrol, this engine produces 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque. Expect a slight dip in these figures when powered by CNG. We expect the C3 CNG’s prices to start upwards of Rs. 7.0 lakh and go up to Rs. 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top variant. When launched, the Citroen C3 CNG will compete with the Tata Punch CNG, Hyundai Exter CNG as well as the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG.
