2022 Toyota Hilux Launch Delayed — Bookings Likely To Reopen Soon | V3Cars

Toyota took the wraps off the India-spec 2022 Hilux in January 2022. The Japanese carmaker commenced bookings for the pick-up truck in March, ahead of its scheduled launch in the same month. Now that we are at the end of March 2022 and the Hilux hasn’t been launched yet, we can only assume that the launch has been delayed.

If you recall, Toyota stopped accepting bookings for the Hilux just two weeks after it opened the order books. Toyota cited an overwhelming demand for the pick-up truck as the reason behind the move. However, Toyota hasn’t revealed the reason why they have delayed the launch of the Hilux. That said, we expect Toyota to launch the 2022 Hilux in April 2022.

The 2022 Hilux will offer the following features:

LED headlights
LED DRLs
LED fog lamps
17-inch alloy wheels
Dual-zone climate control
8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Multi-drive modes
Tilt and telescopic steering
Cruise control
Auto-dimming inside rearview mirror
8-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat
Second-row AC vents
7 airbags
Traction control
Electronic differential lock
Limited slip differential

Toyota will offer the Hilux pick-up truck with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine. It will produce 204PS of power and 420Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual transmission. The torque output goes up to 500Nm if you opt for the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Both diesel-manual and diesel-automatic options of the Hilux will offer 4-wheel-drive as standard.

We expect Toyota to price the Hilux between Rs. 28 lakh and Rs. 32 lakh ex-showroom. The 2022 Hilux will go up against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, which is still in its previous generation in our market.
