Skoda Rapid Successor Interior Revealed In Spy Shots | V3Cars
Skoda is gearing up to launch the Rapid successor in India by the end of this year. And as the launch is getting closer, we are getting to know more about the sedan, courtesy of spy shots.
The latest set of spy shots reveals the sedan’s interior and it looks largely similar to the Kushaq with a bi-spoke steering wheel and a large touchscreen infotainment system (probably a 10-inch unit) sitting at the top of the AC vents with climate controls placed further below. It also gets a Kushaq-like analogue instrument cluster. However, while the Kushaq comes with a black and light grey combination for the cabin, the sedan seems to get a beige-black finish.
Other features that are expected to make way to the Rapid successor include electric sunroof connected car tech, auto AC, auto LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, up to 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill launch assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The Rapid successor will not only shares its underpinnings, features and interior with the Kushaq but will borrow its engines as well. It will get the SUV’s 1.0-litre TSI (115PS/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre TSI (150PS/250Nm) turbo petrol engines. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed MT as standard with an option of 6-speed AT and 7-speed DSG with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre engines, respectively.
Talking about the exterior design, the Rapid successor is expected to look similar to the recently unveiled 2021 Fabia (not on sale in India) from the font while the rear is likely to replicate the recently launched Octavia sedan.
With the debut scheduled for the end of this year, expect the Skoda sedan to go on sale in January 2022. It is likely to be called the Slavia as Skoda has trademarked the ‘Slavia’ moniker in India. Skoda is expected to sell the Slavia sedan alongside the current Rapid just like Honda is doing with the 4th-and 5th-gen City. Prices of the Rapid successor are likely to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. It will rekindle rivalry against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City (4th and 5th generations) and upcoming cars like the Toyota Yaris replacement, a rebadged Maruti Ciaz, and the next-gen Volkswagen Vento.
