Skoda Kushaq Previewed In Official Sketches Ahead Of March 18 Debut | V3Cars
Skoda recently confirmed that it will unveil the upcoming Kushaq SUV on 18 March 2021. The carmaker has now previewed the SUV ahead of its official global debut with a set of official design sketches.
As expected, the Kushaq looks largely similar to the Vision IN concept. It gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with a chrome surround flanked by two-part LED headlamps. The bumper looks muscular with large central air dam flanked by smaller air dams on either side. The side profile, however, looks clean with a sharp character line running across the length after originating from the front door. While the design sketches show the SUV riding on big alloy wheels, the production-spec model will get 17-inch alloys.
Coming to the back, Kushaq gets L-shaped tail lamps flanking the SKODA lettering on the tailgate, similar to what we have seen on the concept and other modern Skoda cars. It also gets a faux skid plate at both ends further accentuating its SUV credentials.
The design sketches do not reveal anything about the cabin of the Kushaq but expect it to be similar to other modern Skoda cars. Features on offer will include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto AC, rain-sensing wipers, auto LED headlamps, cruise control and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Skoda has not revealed the dimensions of the Kushaq save for its wheelbase. At 2651mm, the Kushaq’s wheelbase is not only bigger than its rivals-- Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos (2610mm) but is also bigger than its elder sibling--Karoq (2638mm).
Under the hood, the Kushaq will be offered with two petrol engines: a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. The 1.0-litre will make 110PS and 175Nm paired to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.5-litre unit, on the other hand, is good for 150PS and 250Nm paired to either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DSG.
Skoda is expected to launch the Kushaq by mid-2021. Prices are expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. Price-wise, it will also compete with some variants of the MG Hector and the Tata Harrier.
