Nissan MPV Based On Renault Triber Confirmed

Nissan and Renault have restructured their alliance that brings a couple of new offerings for our market. This restructure will put more focus on Nissan India with a new range of vehicles that will be shared with Renault. Nissan have confirmed to bring a new vehicle that will share its underpinnings with the Renault Triber. While the carmaker is yet to reveal the bodystyle for this upcoming vehicle, it will most likely be a compact 7-seater MPV.

The Renault Triber is currently one of the most affordable 7-seater vehicles in India. It sits on Renault’s CMF-A+ platform, which also underpins the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Currently, Nissan only offer the Magnite in India whereas the Kicks will be replaced with a new SUV in 2025. Like the Kiger and Magnite, we expect the upcoming Nissan MPV to have a clear distinction in terms of design over the Renault Triber.

In terms of powertrains, the Nissan MPV is likely to come with 2 engine options — 1.0L normal petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol. The 1.0L normal petrol engine already does duty on the Triber and produces 72PS of power at 6250rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine is long awaited in the Triber since the normal petrol engine doesn’t feel adequate while driving with full load. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 100PS of power at 5000rpm and 160Nm of torque between 2800rpm and 3600rpm.

Apart from the new MPV, Nissan will also collaborate with Renault to bring a range of new SUVs as well. Furthermore, both the carmakers are also considering a small electric hatchback for our market.
