Renault Koleos Premium SUV Spied Yet Again — What’s Actually Cooking At Renault? | V3Cars
Many of us may have forgotten the Koleos from Renault. However, the name is not new in India. Renault launched their flagship Koleos SUV in India back in 2011 and it later received a facelift in 2014. However, it never set the sales chart on fire and was taken off the shelves in 2017. Now, the 2nd gen Koleos has made its appearance on our roads with red registration plates and we can’t help but wonder if it will launch here in the near future.
Lately, Renault are testing multiple cars on our shores. We have already spied the Zoe EV, the Arkana coupe SUV and the Koleos SUV multiple times. After the launch of the Duster, Renault have been focusing on made-for-India products, engineered to offer superb value at low prices. However, Renault could change that in the near future.

In all likelihood, Renault are using the Koleos and the Arkana as a test bed for their CMP platform. The Koleos sits on the CMF-C platform whereas the Arkana uses the CMB-B HS platform where HS stands for High Specifications. These platforms are more premium and advanced compared to the ones we get with the current range of Renault cars. The current Renault lineup uses the cost-efficient CMF-A platform (Kwid) and CMF-A+ platform (Triber and Kiger).

Hence, we expect Renault to launch a premium SUV to rival other SUVs in the market, such as the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. It goes without saying that the modularity of the modern day platforms could also result in other body sizes, such as an SUV to rival the best-selling Hyundai Creta as well. Renault could also be using these cars to test multiple powertrains for India, which could make their way to future products.
