Ola To Expand Internationally, Make India Big Player In EV Production

Ola Plan To Make India A Major EV Production Hub - International Expansion Too | V3Cars

Ola recently shared their mid-to-long-term plans for EV and electric vehicle production. They plan to make India a major EV-producing country and use their plant as the EV production hub. The company plans to expand the production capacity to make 10 lakh cars, 100GWh of batteries and 1 crore scooters per year.

Ola EV Production

If Ola manage to achieve enough demand in India to run the plants at full capacity, then they will become the 2nd largest carmaker in India. Maruti Suzuki are the only car manufacturer in India to have ever achieved and sustained 10 lakh+ sales per year. We can rest assured that Ola aren’t planning to beat Maruti Suzuki in terms of domestic sales numbers.

Ola confirmed during their Independence Day event that they’re planning to make in India for exports. They’re planning an international expansion and for that, Ola intend to use their India plant as their EV production hub.

Ola EV Production

Currently, China is the biggest EV maker in the world with the US in a distant 2nd spot and Germany following closely. If Ola manage to achieve full production capacity, then we can expect to become at least the 4th largest EV producing country in the world. That’s, with the assumption that the leaders will also continue to expand and defend their turf.

Ola recently teased their upcoming electric car, which we believe they will call the C1 Coupe. We’re expecting this car to cost between Rs. 18.0 and 20.0 lakh (ex-showroom), when it goes on sale in 2024. They also disclosed that they’ll make a total of 6 electric cars on 2 platforms.

Assuming that they make a big-car and a compact-car platform, we may see the following options in their portfolio in this decade:
