In this November 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all hatchbacks in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all hatchbacks for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

Hatchbacks Segment November 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

Maruti Suzuki may not have a strong grip in the sedan segment, but they have the hatchback segment under their command.
In terms of sales, the B-segment hatchback is the best-selling segment in the Indian market.
The Maruti Ignis was the best performing hatchback in November 2022 YoY comparison, with a near 240% rise in dispatches as compared to November 2021.
The Glanza was the second best performing car in the category, with over 131% YoY gains in November 2022. It was followed by Baleno in YoY growth with 111% growth.
The Honda Jazz was the biggest loser, with a 94% decline in sales. The Maruti Celerio was the second biggest loser with a 58.40% decline in dispatches in YoY comparison for November, followed by the Maruti S-Presso with a 29.31% decline.
WagonR also reported a YoY decline of 12.66% in November.
Most hatchbacks reported a YoY growth in November.
Apart from the discontinuation of the Santro recently, the Datsun Redi-GO, Volkswagen Polo and Datsun GO were also discontinued over the past year.

Hatchback Segment November 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

The Alto pair claimed the top spot with over 21,000 dispatches in the month of October, but in November, the Baleno nearly touched the 21,000 mark while sales of the Alto pair dropped by over 5,500 units to below the 14,000 mark.
The Maruti Baleno was the top MoM gainer in November with 22% growth in dispatch figures.
The Toyota Glanza was the second best top gainer in MoM comparison, with a 16.62% growth, followed by the Ignis and Altroz with around 7% MoM growth.
Among the notable MoM losers were the Jazz, Celerio and S-Presso, with their dispatches declining by 90%, 42.20% and 29.6%, respectively.
